Weyland McKenzie Shines on Latest Single ‘ TDM’
Self-proclaimed Musician who DJ’s in the offseason Weyland McKenzie shows us exactly why he should be the next artist on your radar. The 21-year-old MC hailing from London is bringing a new style to UK rap, blessing us with intricate flows, poetic lyrics and elite wordplay while perfectly adding his own steez to it, effortlessly gliding on Ruben Joy’s production on ‘ TDM’.
Weyland perfectly executes the balance of elite lyricism while still capturing listeners attention with hard-hitting flows and bouncy production, as soon as the track starts he wastes no time quickly entering the hook and from then on head cannot stop bopping, hitting with funny lines like ‘ went to my head like Mitchell and Ness’ while also touching more serious topics such as artist integrity not compromising your own authenticity for playlist entries, while also adding introspect telling us a bit about his own story in his life so far. One thing Weyland has done perfectly is avoid the stigma of being just a lyricist which is so easy to fall into but time again Weyland has proved he is not one dimensional proving her can craft amazing songs all the way dating back to his SoundCloud releases but on ‘ TDM he took it to a completely new level.
‘ TDM’ is without a doubt one of my favourite rap releases to come out this year and I cannot wait to see what Weyland does next, the rest of the year is due to special for him.
Also, catch him performing SOUND OF MIND festival at Styx in London sharing the stage with acts like Emmavie and Scott Xylo. We are definitely going to be there so we hope to see all of you there as well.
